VG10 Steel & 67-Layer Damascus: The Heart of Koto Blades
Our knives are crafted using premium Japanese VG10 steel—a material once reserved for the most esteemed chefs of Japan. Revered for its exceptional hardness and edge retention, VG10 steel forms the core of our blades, providing strength and durability that endure through years of culinary use.
Encasing this core are 33 layers of folded Damascus steel on each side, resulting in a robust 67-layer blade. These layers not only enhance the blade's resilience but also give rise to the intricate, flowing patterns unique to each knife—turning every Koto Blade into a functional work of art.
In addition to our Damascus collection, we offer a variety of high-carbon stainless steel knives, each blade adorned with elegant, etched designs that celebrate the artistry of Japanese craftsmanship.

The name Koto (古都) translates to “ancient city,” a nod to the timeless heritage and artistry that inspire our knives. Each blade we create is a tribute to the beauty, grace, and precision that define Japanese craftsmanship.
